Her mom Vanessa says she’s “a sweet girl who, despite her challenges, is always a bundle of joy -- laughing and smiling. She never lets her illness get her down. She is the light of our lives.”
Alexa is in 8th Grade at Corvallis Middle School in Norwalk, Calif., just outside Los Angeles. She enjoys school, but because of her illness, she hasn’t able to do many of the things she loves -- going on vacation and to theme parks, riding waterslides, playing basketball and Skee-Ball at Dave & Busters, riding her bike, taking family walks with her dogs, and hanging out with her friends and her abuella Gloria.
A new kidney will enable Alexa to continue to spread her joy and get back to being a typical teenager, doing all the things she loves.
